KYYS-FM

Classic rock hi-fi class 99.7 KY is on its last legs and will change formats currently.

KY’s on-air workforce was released Thursday ahead of the change. Fired staffers enter expert announcers Max Floyd, Tanna Guthrie and Slacker.

“They are superb capacity, just an incredible team,” said Dave Alpert, vice leader and souk leader of paternal company Entercom Kansas City. “I can’t say anything bad or wrong with what they did for the level.”

The status its roots back to KYYS-FM (102.1), which went on the air in 1974 and became a top-rated station in the fair.

In the mid-1990s a new landlord bought the standing, fired the stick and rehabilitated the design, sparking a hearer protest that the return of KY down the dial at 99.7 in 1997. But KY’s have slipped in fresh an inordinate length of time.

Radio insiders say the post’s new layout would be a form of “adult unusual rock,” playing artists such as the Dave Matthews Band. Reportedly, an e-mail to advertisers identified the new place as “99.7 The Boulevard,” playing “condition rock.”

The motivation for the change: One too many definitive-rock stations in the bazaar, Alpert said. KY has been on offer head to head with KCFX-FM (101.1), The Fox.
